Notion integration

How to use the Notion integration

The Notion integration is available on all plans.

We’ve built an integration with Notion which allows you to sync candidates from cord to a lightweight database. If you’re the first person at your company to set up the integration, this guide is for you!

If someone has already set it up, the steps are slightly different - scroll to the bottom of the page for instructions.

cord's Notion integration allows you to automatically send candidates from cord to a lightweight Notion database. In this article, we will cover how to:

  1. Configure the Notion integration.
  1. Associate a position on cord with a position in your Notion database.
  1. Automatically send candidates to Notion.
  1. Manually send candidates to Notion.

Using our Notion template, you can now have candidates sent to Notion automatically once the conversation on cord is started.

1. Integrate cord and Notion

  • This will take you to Notion. On the first step, you’ll need to give cord permission to view pages you select, edit pages you select, and create new content within pages you select. Click ‘Next’.
  • On the second step, you’ll need to select the first option: Use a template provided by the developer
    • This will create a new template in your Private pages section of your workspace on Notion. The integration will then be able to view, insert and update content on this new page. Click ‘Allow access’.
  • You should now see a new page called cord ATS in your Private pages in Notion.

Please note: if you’d like multiple cord users to send candidates to the database, you’ll need to share this page with them on Notion. To do this, click ‘Share’ at the top of the page, and select their name.

2. Link positions on cord to the Notion database

To make sure candidates send to the right part of the database, associate positions on cord with positions in Notion. To do this, you’ll need to add each position as a new group in the Notion database.

Once you’ve done this on Notion, go to the position on cord, scroll all the way down to the section called ‘Link your ATS position’, a drop down will provide the available positions. Once a position has been selected, scroll down and click on “Save Position” to complete the association.

3. Automatically send candidates to Notion

With the positions linked, candidates will now automatically be sent to the associated positions in your Notion database when you start a conversation. A conversation is started when you message a candidate and they accept, or vice versa.

The candidate will be sent to the Sourced column of the database. You can then use the other columns in the database to move candidates through the process.

4. Manually send candidates to Notion

If you do not wish for your candidates to be automatically forwarded from cord to Notion, you can turn this off in your Settings. The position will still be linked with the position on Notion, and you can manually send the person to that position in Notion by pressing the ATS position in the top right corner of the conversation.

Set up for other users

If someone at your company has already connected cord and Notion, you’ll need to follow these steps:

  1. The person who initially set it up will need to share the Notion page with you.
    1. To do this, they’ll need to go to the page on Notion, click Share and find the other users’ names.
    2. Once Shared, the page will appear under Shared pages on Notion.
  1. You can now set up the integration. Go to Settings > Integrations on cord and click Connect.
  1. On the first step, you’ll need to give cord permission to view pages you select, edit pages you select, and create new content within pages you select. Click ‘Next’.
  1. On the second step, choose ‘Select pages to share with cord-ats’ and choose the cord ATS page from the dropdown (it should be under Shared, if step 1 has been completed!). Click ‘Allow access’.
  1. That’s it! You’re connected to the same database and all candidates will be sent there, no matter who sourced them.
